The Council has a General Secretariat that takes charge of the Council's administrative, technical and supportive tasks affairs. The General Secretariat is headed by the Secretary-General who specializes in supervising the proceedings of the council's session and editing minutes of meetings, notes down the names of the members who wish to speak in the order of their applications, affirms maintaining order and record the results of the voting, and other matters required by the Chairman related to management of the session.
The General Secretariat prepares and organizes meetings of the Bureau of the Council, implements the instructions of the Secretary-General in relation to the preparation of the agenda for the meetings of the Council's Bureau and the sessions, prepares papers, documents and whatever required by members of the bureau for their meetings, follow-up the outcomes of the bureau of the Council of decisions and take the necessary measures to enable their implementation.
The General Secretariat is receiving bills, motions and questions submitted by members, after that makes necessary reviews in coordination with the concerned sections at the Council, then present them to the Chairman for inclusion in the agenda.
Also, the General Secretariat prepares letters of summoning for Ministers or officials from government bodies, who the council wishes to know their views and observations about the nature of the work of their institution or any matter falling within their jurisdictions.
The General Secretariat receives reports of the specialized committees at the council on issues referred to them, and presents them to the Chairman for inclusion in the agenda.
